I sat down with my best friend Brenna for a conversation that reminded me why I go to her with half my life crises. She has this rare mix of plant knowledge, lived experience, & a “keep it simple, don’t overthink it” philosophy that makes herbalism feel doable for actual humans with actual kids & actual lives.

Even after all these years of talking almost daily, I still learn something new every single time we talk. Brenna has this way of making herbalism feel accessible & human. She doesn’t gate-keep knowledge or promote professional certifications. Rather, she encourages me (us) to listen to our own inner herbalist & simply see what the plants have to say. She blends deep knowledge with a kind of simplicity that’s almost rebellious in a world obsessed with overcomplicating every wellness practice.

We talk about her journey out of the allopathic mindset & into trusting her body, trusting the plants, & trusting the process. We dive into birth stories, ancestral wisdom, what it means to mother from instinct instead of fear, & how healing often looks like slowing down rather than doing more.

She shares how she approaches plant medicine in her own home—especially with her kids—and why “keep it simple” is basically her entire philosophy. No theatrics, no aesthetic. Just practicality, intuition, & a sense of calm that I swear could lower your blood pressure through the speakers.

If you’re curious about herbalism, motherhood, healing, or just want to listen to two friends talk about life in a way that might shift the way you see the world… this one’s for you.
